Crunchy and Delicious Beer Batter for Fish

The perfect batter for your fish can sometimes be hard to get right. Our recipe makes it easy, simple and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 50g plain flour, plus extra for coating the fish
  • 50g cornflour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 100ml lager
  • 40ml sparkling water
  • A dash of malt vinegar
  • A good pinch of sea salt

Method

  • In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients.
  • Whisk in the liquids until a smooth batter forms.
  • Roll your desired fish in seasoned flour until evenly coated, knock off any extra before dredging in batter.
  • Once dredged, gently fry in deep oil until golden, crispy and thoroughly cooked (7-10 minutes approximately, fish depending).
